Day 10 - eHow Drama

Jonathan,

You were recently contacted with a request to change graphic images from http://www.ehow.com/how_4803228_commit-suicide.html

You did not remove the images and instead reposted the article with a new title “How to Suiside.” We wanted you to know we are aware of this and the fact you’ve previously been flagged for five other articles deemed SPAM or Offensive content. Please consider this a warning. In the meantime, I’ve deleted the above-mentioned article.

In order to assist you going forward and reduce the number of times you will be flagged for such, I thought I’d share with you eHow’s Guidelines on Objectionable Subject Matter:

http://www.ehow.com/about_us/FAQ_ehow.aspx#q69

Objectionable Subject Matter

  1. Articles must not contain offensive and/or obscene material, including written words, photos and videos.
  2. Articles must not contain potentially dangerous and/or illegal instructions.
  3. Articles must not have inaccurate facts.
  4. Articles must not contain blogging, opinion pieces, personal observations, stories, ads or poetry.

For more specific details, please check eHow’s Terms of Use.

Spamming/Plagiarism/Trademarks

  1. Articles that are advertisements or read like advertisements will be considered SPAM and removed.
  2. Articles should avoid the use of third party trademarks when it is not necessary to use them. If it is necessary to use a third party trademark in the article, please review the trademark holder’s trademark usage guidelines to ensure you are using the trademark properly. As a general rule, all trademarks should be capitalized and followed by the generic name for the product or service the trademark describes (examples: Kleenex brand tissues; Xerox copying services).
  3. Articles should never be written in a manner that would suggest that the author or the eHow community endorses or is affiliated with any particular third party product or service.
  4. Links in your text that lead to external sites must be relevant to the context of your article.
  5. Articles cannot include material that is plagiarized from any other person and/or source.
  6. Articles you’ve published on the eHow website and are also published on other sites must be owned by you. To avoid any plagiarism confusion, please make sure the byline matches the byline on your eHow website account.

For more specific details, please check eHow’s Terms of Use.

Thank you for your understanding our need to maintain quality on eHow.com.

*******************************************************

i really want to have the graphic pictures. can i at least have one?

i wrote How to Commit Suicide because i figure if someone types in How To Commit Suicide in a search engine, they aren’t looking for “How to Get Someone To Convince You Your Life is Worth Living,” cause that’s all you get.

the twist to my article is it sounds in the intro like i’m going to tell you how to kill yourself, so maybe someone would click on it.

the whole thing is designed to help someone who is actually suicidal and give them some advice they might not get from someone else, ya know?

and the nasty pictures are to drive home the point that killing yourself is no joke, and sometimes just seeing what suicide might actually look like makes people realize they don’t want to kill themselves, ya know?

lots of people talk about suicide, but actually doing it is horrific.

anyway, i realize you’re just looking out, and you’re totally right. i wasn’t sure if they’d take it down or not. i half expected them to already have removed it.
